Our knowledge of human stem cell is quickly deepening and expanding today, as are the possibilities and visions of stem-cell applications, ranging from disease research and drug development to growing entirely new organs for transplant. While stem-cell technologies are creating a paradigm shift in the field of medicine and society at large, many challenges still remain before we are able to benefit from them. This year's World Alliance Forum will bring together many leading figures in the academic, industry, and regulatory arenas, including Dr. Shinya Yamanaka, the 2012 Nobel-Prize winning iPS-cell expert.
It is the forum's goal to: (1) discuss the exciting possibilities of stem-cell applications and how they will affect our future; (2) examine the accompanying research, business, and systemic hurdles; and (3) establish networks of experts for the development of stem cells and regenerative medicine as an industry. The profit raised in this forum will be used towards the industrialization of regenerative medicine and cultivation of human resources.
