Alliance Forum Foundation

Public Interest Capitalism Research Division

to whom.JPGThe Alliance Forum Foundation Public Interest Capitalism Research Division is tackling this fundamental question head on. Management based on shareholder-centrism has the tendency to place over-emphasis on short-term profits, destroy the sustainability of corporations, and negatively impacting society as a whole. This recent subprime loan crisis epitomizes this problem.

Since 1999, the Alliance Forum Foundation (AFF) has been actively supporting a number of activities that raise awareness and foster dialogue regarding the problems associated with shareholder-centric management and corporate governance.

Between 2001-2005, the AFF worked in partnership with the Japan Initiative to develop a theoretical structure to replace Shareholder-centric Capitalism. In 2008, AFF launched a joint research project with the Tokyo Foundation to further develop a theoretical system in support of the concept of Public Interest Capitalism. Through the Public Interest Capitalism Research Division, AFF is actively supporting this research through a varieity of activities.
